Learn to Sail at Vallejo Yacht Club

Vallejo Yacht Club has several paths for learning to sail…

Basic Sailing Orientation

This is a free 3-hour on-land lecture and demonstration class on the basics of boating and sailing.  It is offered about once per month, year-round.  Sign-up to reserve a space, or just drop in at a scheduled time.  The class meets the 2nd Saturday of each month from 9AM-noon. Basic Small-boat Sailing

Basic Small Keelboat Sailing

Is an informal free on-the-water class for VYC members interested in leaning to sail on Cal 20 keelboats.  This class meets 1-3pm on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month.  Sign-up to reserve a space, or drop in.  Space is limited.  https://www.vyc.org/cal20-program

Keelboat Racing

Is a good way to learn about sailing on-the-water.  Racing is Wednesday nights from April through September, is keelboat race-night at VYC, assembling at 4:30pm.  If you are interested in joining a crew, please come down or sign up at https://www.vyc.org/crew-list. We will try to match you up on an as-available basis.

Assistant Sailing Instructor Class

Is offered occasionally to prepare people interested in teaching sailing with some basics of sailing class instruction.  This includes safe rescue-boat operation and assisting sailing classes.

More classes!

We anticipate new intermediate small-boat sailing, more formal keelboat and small keelboat, and other short specialty classes in the future.

Instructors and assistant instructors are always needed!  Please contact LTS@VYC.org if you are interested.
