Information for Racers

Welcome to Vallejo Yacht Club!  We are glad to have you as our guests, and hope your stay with us is an enjoyable one.  Here is some information that will be useful to you in making your participation in the 2010 Great Vallejo Race fun and safe.

Berthing/Raft-up:  The Vallejo Yacht Club Harbor has been dredged to 10’ MLLW!  We will have our usual wall-to-wall raft-up in the club’s harbor.  Chase boats will meet you in the strait and give you directions for entering the harbor.  Please be sure to have adequate fenders and dock lines to protect your boat and others in the raft-up.  Boat Handlers will be on-hand to direct rafting procedures and will assign positions based on their discretion.  You must follow their directions.

Rafting will be permitted in the Vallejo Municipal Marina next door.  They currently have a depth of about 6’ MLLW.  You do not need to make a reservation ahead of time.  For further information call 707-648-4370.

Please be courteous and follow standard rules of decorum when staying at the Municipal Marina or at the Vallejo Yacht Club.

Bar:  We will have multiple bars –  The main bar will service mixed drinks and beer.  additional auxillary bars will be setup for Beer / Wine, and Mount Gay Rum!  On Sunday morning the main bar will be open; our featured drinks will be the Ramos Fizz and Bloody Mary’s.

Entertainment: Mumbo Gumbo will be playing in the clubhouse from 8:00 PM until 1:00 AM. 

T-shirts / hats:  The Great Vallejo Race / YRA Season Opener t-shirts & hats will be available once again this year.  They will be available for purchase on the main deck of the clubhouse.  Additional Mount Gay Rum T-Shirts will also be available.  Mount Gay Rum Hats are only available to registered Race Boat Skippers and are not available for purchase, sorry!

Meals:  We are serving dinner on Saturday from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.  There are 2 menu options, menu TBD soon.  Dining will be in tents near the clubhouse.  There will be a snack bar offering hot dogs until 6 p.m.  Breakfast is in the morning from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. 

Hotels:  If you wish to sleep off your boat, there are two local hotels close to the Club.  The Ramada Inn at 1000 Admiral Callaghan Lane, 707-643-2700, or   The Howard Johnson Inn and Suites at 44 Admiral Callaghan Lane, 707-643-1061.  Make reservations early.

Smoking:  Butt cans are available on the docks and decks, and in the parking lot.  Smoking is not allowed in the clubhouse.

Recyclables:  Please deposit these in appropriate containers located on the docks and near the clubhouse.  Other trash goes into dumpsters in the parking lot, near the clubhouse, and on the South Dock.

Local Transportation:  Vallejo City Cab: 643-3333.  Yellow Cab: 642-4421 and 644-1234.  Ferry schedules will be available at the information booth at the club, or you may call 707-643-3779 or visit www.baylinkferry.com.

Vessel Safety Checks:  Do you carry all the legally-required safety equipment?  If you wish a safety check for your vessel, examiners will be available.  Check with the information booth.  This examination will be conducted by a certified member of the United States Power Squadrons or the Coast Guard Auxiliary.  It is confidential, and will not be reported to any enforcement agency.  For a list of Federal standards, see www.safetyseal.net.  If you meet the requirements, you get a sticker to display. 

Restaurants:  Should you choose not to eat at the club, there are several restaurants within walking distance.  Information on these will be available at the information booth.

Supplies:  A convenience store is within walking distance.   A supermarket trip requires a car.

Ice:  Ice will be available Sunday morning for $1 / bag.  Purchase may be made at the main bar that morning.

ATM:  A Bank of the West branch is within walking distance, and there are ATM services at the convenience store.  Location of these will be available at the information booth

Religious services:  A list of local services will be available at the information booth.

Laundry:  We have a coin-operated washer and dryer that you may use. 

Restrooms:  There will be separate units for men and women located adjacent to the clubhouse and at the South Dock, and these will be inspected and maintained constantly throughout the evening. 

Pets:  If you sail with your pet, please be advised that dogs must be leashed at all times on the club grounds, and in the city of Vallejo.  You must clean up after your pet.  Pets are not allowed in the clubhouse.

Showers:  Each head in the clubhouse has two shower stalls for your use.
